"We finally tried The Modern Southern Table tonight after they recently opened a second location near us on High Street. Everything was excellent! A bonus is that their fried chicken and catfish don't have any dairy or egg so our kids can eat them. We appreciate that they actually have an allergen list on their website. We had mac n cheese, green beans, yams, baked beans, JoJo's, and cornbread for sides. Full bellies for sure. Highly recommend checking them out."

""Firstly" if you "Thirsty" for food then go here! Food so good make you don't wanna share with your teenage son.. Food so good, you tell a cop hurry up and write me my ticket for speeding(drive safe by the way), Because Modern Southern Table closes in fifteen minutes. And I gotta make it before they close.. Portion size, you're gonna appreciate. Fried fish was good. Mac and cheese so good you can eat it on your back while relaxed . Greens was good but they definitely have a lil kick to them, so if you're avoiding spicy, you probably should avoid those greens. And the grease that they use, you can tell that its fresh and good quality. Nice, quiet, warm environment and the waiting area. And Im from Philly and was here for work. I will definitely be coming back If God(The Creator)Wills. Sincerely Edward!"

"11/21/25 4pm: This is my first visit to their new location. I ordered via pickup through DoorDash. Upon entering the parking lot off N.High I will admit the signage was a bit difficult to see but they’re located at the corner of the plaza next to Swan’s barbershop. It’s a small modern style drop in location. There’s no public restrooms so please don’t be alarmed. They do have 2 nice tables with two chairs each for general seating or maybe a quick dine. There’s QR sticker codes on the windows that takes you to their online menu/ordering. I love the modern look that they chose and the fact they included their history/ homage in their decorum. I did ask the lady that serviced me if the extras I paid for (pie and sauces) were included and she glanced in the bag and said everything should be there. I expressed how I’d hate to get back across town and items are missed. Well unfortunately I guess by her seeing the sauces she assumed my personal sweet potato pie was in there however it wasn’t. I was pretty bummed because I was really looking forward to trying it and I had a feeling they might miss something. Now as far as the food… BABY somebody did their big one with it. Although the mac could use some improvement my fish and personal favorite candied yams were divine!!! I love their signature sauce!!! I’m craving their candied yams so bad that I want it again today!!! I do wish on DoorDash they’d change the vegetarian sides platter to where you can select two of the same options. Example: two sweet potatoes, one mac. It forces you to choose one of each from the choices that are available that day. Sometimes the candied yams aren’t available to order online as their menu seems to be tailored to certain days and subject to availability. This is my second time patronizing this particular location. In comparison to the first time this time was certainly better. The last time I ordered the fish was overcooked and yams weren’t as good. If they can master consistency and a better mac recipe it’ll be a game changer. I will continue to support them"

"Excellent food! The young man who took our in-person order for takeout was super friendly and helped our party of four make some tough choices on their many delicious sides. The catfish was absolutely PERFECT. Crispy, perfectly seasoned and deliciously moist and flaky inside. We had greens, black-eyed pea salad (loved it!), candied yams (!), mac & cheese, and baked beans--it was all really good. Seating is limited (2 tables for 2 each); it looks like their customers mainly do take-out."

"Food was good, yams were a little on the cool side, didn’t have a good selection for it to be around 4pm dinner time, was told they were out of a lot of food."

"Forget Bud Dairy!!! I'm coming to MST Clintonville.****Food was perfect**** Catfish fried hard with a side of greens and slaw! Perfectly seasoned, fried to perfection, greens meaty not salty, the slaw fresh not wilted, and the small unexpected square of homemade corn bread were exactly like my grandma and aunties. I felt the love! I walked in gave them my order...there is a wait because they were hoppin busy!( said 25 min more like 15 min) I did not mind, went next door to Graceland shopped, got a text that my food was ready. It was perfect! Those gentlemen who cooked Friday night Nov 7th...yall know what ya doing!! Those hostess/cashiers handled they business on that front line!! Hey, cuz we were all family that day for sure! Yasss!! ( there are 2 cocktail tables with chairs but this is not a sit in restaurant, but I'm sure with their hospitality they will serve you...lol)"

"I visited the Camille location 2x on 1/20th. For lunch, I had one of my faves: blackeye pea salad. The peas, red onions, herbs and tang of the vinegar are so delicious. It's a nice blend and wonderful side to any main entree. I had the low country fried chicken (wings). I wasn't sure what to expect from the description. I loved the flavor (not spicy, just flavorful). Slight barbecue, but more dry (not quite a rub) than wet. I always request extra crispy. (personal preference). The green beans are a personal fave, too. The taste as if they've simmered all day at noon! The small diced white potatoes & onions with the added seasonings are flavorful. I only wish I could purchase a pint. My 2nd visit was for a sick friend (hospital). She ordered the catfish, greens, mac & cheese & cornbread. I drove the food over 30 minutes in rush hour traffic & it was still warm. This food really lifted her spirits & the staff kept committing on the great smell. She loved the crunchiness & flavor of the fish (even without their special fish sauce). She enjoyed the creamy mac&cheese with the slight crust of cheese mixed in. She scarred down the greens with the smoky turkey commenting on the taste reminding her of her mother's greens. She was surprised to see the pretty light brown square of cornbread tucked it. The flavor has a slight sweetness is a nice addition to the veggies. The 2nd visit was more "welcoming", not the 1st one was bad. The 2nd one was more "personable" & they were busier (4:30 vs noon). This location is a welcome addition of restaurant choices in Clintonville."
